SPONSORED: Bike MS + Team Blu Collar = Success

It’s amazing what you can accomplish when you work as a team, focused on one goal and motivating each other to succeed.
On October 6 and 7, the annual Bike MS150 two-day, 150-mile cycling event brought together around 700 cyclists from around the country to raise money for multiple sclerosis research and other services supported by the National MS Society. Led by Representative Tanner Magee, a group of capitol insiders and friends completed the hot and hilly course from Southeastern University to Mississippi’s Percy Quin State Park and back. Previously known as the MS Bike Tour or MS 150, the Bike MS cycling event has been a strong fundraising event for the National MS Society for over 30 years.  Originally created by Will Munger, then the Executive Director of the Minnesota Chapter, and his 10-year-old, the pair decided to ride their bikes home to Minneapolis from Will’s father’s house in Duluth, Minnesota.  After the two-day trek, they decided to pair this challenge as a new fundraising opportunity for the National MS Society.  In 1980, 200 cyclists rode the first Bike MS ride from Minneapolis to Duluth with an overnight stop in Hinckley and raised $33,000 for the Minnesota Chapter.  Today, there is at least one cycling event held in every state.  Since beginning this event in 1980, Bike MS has raised more than $1 billion for the National MS Society.
This year, members of Team Blu Collar took on the challenge to participate in the Bike MS event, which raised over $460,000 to end Multiple Sclerosis. Established in 2016, deep in the heart of Cajun Country, Team Blu Collar is a sports team for all-level athletes and their supporters.
Team Blu Collar would not have been so successful, if it wasn’t for the support from the following companies:
  • Lafayette General Health
  • Blue Oak BBQ
  • The Picard Group
  • Landry Magee Law
  • Dr. Matthew Porche-Chiropractor
“Chances are, we all know someone with Multiple Sclerosis. We took on this challenge to give back and support those who are in need. This was a fun yet challenging way to show those around us living with MS we care and stand with them in their fight. We are thankful and humbled by the thousands of donors and sponsors who made this event such a huge success.”
– Representative Tanner Magee
“This is a first-class event with a support network that is passionate and grateful. We thank each and every person who put in the many hours training, planning, and preparing to make this event a huge success. From the hundreds of volunteers to, the folks who came out to cheer us on, to the children, women, and men who go through life with MS, we salute you! We stand with you in your fight.”
– Nick Cahanin, The Picard Group
