SPONSORED: Honoring Former Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco

The Picard Group was honored to attend the Kathleen Babineaux Blanco Public Policy Center gala on Friday, September 21, supporting UL Lafayette’s new research facility inspired by the leadership and vision of former Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco.

The Blanco Center is an independent, interdisciplinary research center, bringing together experts from different academic departments to conduct research, analyze data, create white papers, and write grants. The center is committed to serving the public interest through leadership in state and local policy and will be an invaluable resource to policymakers and the public to improve communities across Louisiana.

Approximately 500 people attended the gala, including Governor John Bel Edwards, Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser, former United States Senators John Breaux and Mary Landrieu. While many spoke about their experiences with her, former Governor Kathleen Babineaux Blanco was most inspiring speaker, discussing her many elected roles over the years in which she served in the state. In addition to focusing on government and politics, Blanco said the center will also aim to expand the role of women in politics and provide training for community leaders and elected officials in areas like governmental ethics, criminal justice reform, poverty and education.
