POD: Our Ex-Cop-Gone-Congressman

Next month will mark Congressman Clay Higgins’ first full year of serving in U.S. House. We talked to Higgins on the pod back in the spring, when he was probably the least-known member of the Louisiana delegation who made the biggest splash with an unpredictable victory during the 2016 cycle.

The ex-cop-gone-congressman is also an ex-car dealership manager, and of course offers some car-buying tips. Higgins also talks about his politically split family, growing up on a horse ranch in Covington and his experience with post-traumatic stress syndrome in the police force.

Higgins said back then that he was sleeping on an air mattress on the floor of his D.C. office. That’s still his nightly Beltway bed six months later, his office tells us.

We also kick off the episode with a look back at the assassination of Huey Long and the questions still lingering about Dr. Carl Weiss.
